David MacEnulty is an award winning teacher with over twenty years of experience teaching children and adults. He has won several Teacher of the Year awards, was named Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas at Dallas, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the US Chess Federation, and was given the Lives that Make a Difference award from A&E Television.

For eight years, David taught at a large elementary school in the Bronx, guiding his students to numerous New York City, New York State chess championships, as well as winning three national titles. His work at that school became the basis for a film, Knight of the South Bronx, starring Ted Danson. He has trained hundreds of chess players to become chess teachers and teachers to teach chess, both in America and abroad. He is currently Director of the Dalton Chess Academy at The Dalton School in NY, where his teams have continued the winning tradition of first place victories at the city, state and national level.
